The provincial medical leads oversee the strategic direction and implementation of priorities laid out in the Ontario Renal Plan. The leads help improve kidney care for patients by:
- collaborating with regional directors and regional medical leads
- leading a panel of clinical and administrative members that sets the region’s priorities for a specific topic area (e.g., primary care, data analytics and reporting)
- leading quality improvement strategies in the region
- engaging primary care providers, nephrologists, hospital leaders and stakeholders
